There’s something so very special about printing images and displaying them as artwork in your home. There are so many different options to do it too! I hope to share inspiration here more regularly!
Here’s a standout mount that hangs in our bedroom. It’s 20×20″. Not even THAT big. But a nice size for a smaller wall.
On a large wall, 6 or 9 of these 20×20’s would look STUNNING. Or three above a king size bed.
Standouts are great. They are super light, come with holes in the back to be hung immediately or can be hung with those 3M velcro strips. They come in 2 depths: 3/4″ or 1 1/2″ deep.
It was an impromptu mini session.
Audrey and I had a nice cup of coffee. The kids went outside and WE played.
Silas was alert and content and then he ate and slept for us. A dream session.
Someone recently told me that they ‘recognized’ my house from this painting. Even though they had never been over before. Just from photos they had seen.
It’s big, it’s beautiful and it’s bold and I have a love/hate relationship with it. Many people stare at me in disbelief when I say the love/hate thing. Some offer to trade artwork. Some offer to buy it. Art (my husband, not the painting) won’t let me part with it.
Why do I sometimes hate it? It’s hard to decorate with because I tend to love colors like turquoise and pale blues. If you love turquoise, you should check out this blog. Drooool.
For the longest time, our walls were a really beautiful green — best green I’ve ever seen on a wall. But with the red painting, I felt like I was living in perpetual Christmas colors. And my Christmas colors aren’t even red and green!
We painted our walls pale yellow with green undertones to compliment the painting and the chairs we purchased. Finally I could enjoy the painting again!
I’d love to share with you the artist’s name: Eric Schaap. He doesn’t appear to be selling his work anymore, but his son EW Schaap, learned under him and has a very similar style.
Back to the star of the show. He’s such a sweetie. At 6 weeks, I was happy to get those sleeping shots AND the wide awake and alert shots.
Thanks Audrey & Silas for a sweet little mini session!

Beautiful shoot 🙂

Funny…. the first thing I thought when I saw these photos was, “This must be in Karin’s house!” as I too recognized the painting from a previous shoot. I love.
-
Can a baby get any cuter? What a sweetie – love the one of him so wide-eyed, staring at the camera…
-
I love them all 🙂 Such big beautiful eyes but the sleeping ones are also so precious and peaceful.
Meet Sandro. What a handsome little guy.
And 7-month old Alessia.
And the two of them sharing some hugs. Too cute!
When Stephanie told me that she had a radio flyer wagon, I was delighted! I keep on checking craigslist for one but they are snatched up so quickly and often still quite pricey. (Almost) Three-year-old Sandro shared my love for the wagon. He had a hard time letting it go.
This is the shot I planned on getting.
Ah, yes, the tell-tale signs of teething…
Such a caring big brother.
Bellissimo! Stephanie, I love the colors you choose for the photo session.
I also love that they choose the same location as their engagement photos were taken. Right under this spectacular tree.
Sandro loves to cook a big pot of pasta in his favorite stump.
Thank you for a wonderful session!

Did you do this photo shoot at Red Woods? I love the big trees! You got some really great shots that I’m sure the family is going to love.

-
Karin, your photos continue to knock my socks off! That wagon is to die for.
Oh she is just darling. When I arrived to take photos, she was just asleep in her crib after partying all morning.
I love sleeping babies. Period. We tried really hard not to wake her, but she was bound and determined to hang out with her auntie.
Even though she was awake (I’d say all but 10 minutes throughout the 2 1/2 hour session), she was so content and would close her eyes and model that sleeping baby look. LOVE HER!
-
beautiful pics Karin! Your niece is gorgeous! 🙂 I think my favourite one is the pic of her in the basket beside the pic of her yawning. Sigh. So cute!!

[…] sister, Jaimee, still holding the title for the only girl in the Louwerse family for 2 […]
The idea for this session has been in my head for so long, so when Wenda, contacted me to do a family / maternity session, I knew it would be perfect!
Originally we had booked for weeks earlier but after 3 weeks of gorgeous sunshine and warm weather, the date we selected was dreary and wet. The forecast for this past Saturday wasn’t great either but we decided to just go for it. It spat a little as we started, then we got some sun, then just as we were packing into our vehicles, the torrential downpour started. Phew.
Wenda did an awesome job on coordinating everything: color selection, the clothing, the blankets, the cupcakes. The bonus was that the kids liked the whole idea of a cupcake picnic. Who wouldn’t?
Sikma family: I had a wonderful time. All the best as you wait for a new little one to arrive.
Wenda you are SO photogenic! (your whole family is… but you look awesome!)
